An intense shootout between a burglary suspect and an off-duty Los Angeles police officer took place on August 24, as caught on security footage. The suspect, Jason Taylor Boles, allegedly opened fire when confronted by the officer after displaying suspicious behavior.

The incident occurred at around 11:20 am when the off-duty officer from North Hollywood was in Bakersfield, approximately two hours away from Los Angeles. The officer promptly called 9-1-1 upon noticing a potential burglary suspect lingering in a neighborhood. Security video footage captured Boles approaching a house, where he can be seen grabbing a sweatshirt and a gun from a nearby trash can.

As Boles approached the off-duty officer with the gun, shots were fired. The officer then quickly drove away from the scene, with Boles pointing the gun in his direction. The off-duty officer managed to leave the area safely.

Subsequently, Bakersfield Police Officers arrived at the scene, leading to a second officer-involved shooting. Boles was injured in this altercation and later pronounced dead. One Bakersfield Police Officer was also shot and injured but is expected to recover.

The incident is currently under investigation by both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Bakersfield Police Department. Authorities are working to gather more details and determine the events leading up to the intense shootout.
