Part 3: John "Boxer" Mendoza Norteño vs Sureño War: Any Latino Wearing Blue was an Enemy
Part 1: John "Boxer" Mendoza on His Mom Showing Him How to Shoot Up Heroin at Age 12

--------

John "Boxer" Mendoza shared his experiences of crime and violence at a young age. He recalls how a fellow gang member, 'Sleepy,' became his mentor in the world of crime. They started with small-scale criminal activities such as theft of car stereos, which rapidly escalated to violent acts like robbery and home invasions. Mendoza stated that in gang culture, greater respect was given to those who exuded more violence. He describes the concept of a 'takeover robbery' where criminals would invade and control a store and 'home invasion' where they would rob houses with people inside. He acknowledged the extreme danger and traumatic effects of such crimes, but these acts were driven by a 'do or die' mentality.
