Incarceration can be a harrowing experience, isolating individuals in a stark environment that leaves plenty of room for introspection. Rowdy Rebel recently opened up to BET about his time behind bars, providing us with a glimpse into his moments of self-reflection.
At the start of the clip, Rowdy Rebel spoke about people saying that he "stood tall," which he said isn't just about not telling on someone. He explained that "standing tall is all-around being there for my people's responsibilities."
During his confinement, Rowdy spoke about being in solitary and spending significant time alone in a small, isolated cell. While he had a few fellow inmates as companions during the day, Rowdy Rebel emphasized that when those iron doors closed at night, he was truly on his own. In the silence of his solitude, he was forced to confront the choices that had led him to this point, questioning where he went wrong.
During the conversation, the New York rapper broke down his "Rowdy" and "Rebel" side, stating that his "Rebel" side is when he gets "real angry." He then added that his "Rowdy" side is more "peaceful" and in line with making music.
Moving along, Rowdy Rebel spoke about coming home in a more peaceful and calm state, and he pointed out that he hasn't gotten in any trouble since his release. To hear more, hit the above clip
