Part 1: Albert Hughes on How They Came Up with the Title to "Menace II Society"

--------

The Hughes Brothers, Albert and Allen, have recounted their high-profile court clash with late rapper Tupac Shakur. Tupac was charged with assault on the Hughes brothers and was represented by the renowned attorney Johnnie Cochran. According to the brothers, tension in the courtroom was high, and at one point, the brothers recall collectively calling Tupac a derogatory term, which seemed to shock him momentarily. They suggest Tupac seemed to purposefully create a scene to attract law enforcement and diffuse the situation. Albert considered this a dangerous move as they were surrounded by Nation of Islam security at the time. The brothers also disputed an account of the incident by an unnamed female reporter, insisting they did not cower or cry but faced Tupac head-on.
