Part 3: Lavar Ball on Joining NY Jets After They Saw Him Work Out with Insanely Heavy Weights
Part 1: Lavar Ball on Growing Up in South Central LA Around Crips & Bloods, Never Joining a Gang

--------

In this clip, Lavar Ball reflects on his high school sports experiences. An all-around athlete, he didn't limit himself to one sport in high school, and he pursued football, basketball, and track. He was originally the quarterback for his football team but claims his coach made him switch positions because he “threw too hard.” Ball insinuates racial bias was also a factor, alleging that his largely white school community didn't want a black quarterback. After high school, Ball attended junior college to improve his grades, where he turned heads for his dominant performances in basketball. He was then recruited to Washington State and later spent a season in a residential college before heading to L.A. to play basketball. Throughout this journey, he was attending a different school every year, and his brothers followed him.
