Albert Hughes revealed some of the behind-the-scenes dealings of the film industry. Speaking on "Menace II Society," Hughes revealed that although the film was profitable, the creators were paid significantly less than expected due to the Favored Nations clause, where everyone involved gets the same pay. Hughes went on to claim that he and his brother ended up making less than $24,000 despite the film making millions. The director also spoke on the realities of royalties, explaining that they can often be minimal and not significant paydays. In the clip, Hughes also addressed rumors about a sequel to "Menace II Society.” He emphasized that for such a project to come to fruition, permissions would need to be sought from New Line, now owned by Warner Brothers. Lastly, they discussed the subtleties and changes in dialogue when watching movies with subtitles.
