In a recently revealed mafia story, former FBI agent Mike Campi tells of Brooklyn-born gangster Mike 'Cookie' D'Urso, also known as Mikey Scars, who defied odds and threats to his life to help take down the notorious Genovese family. D'Urso was originally affiliated with the family and was even linked to Sammy 'Maples' Apparel, a long-time member of the Genovese family. D'Urso got shot in the head, lost his cousin to mob violence, and even had a hit ordered on him by the acting boss of the Genovese family. However, he didn’t retaliate or cooperate with law enforcement, even when approached with information about threats on his life. When D'Urso eventually decided to quit his life in the mafia, he knew Campi as an agent who took down the Genovese in previous cases. He reached out to him and began working to dismantle the mafia from within. While acting as an informant, D'Urso was even assigned by the family to eliminate another criminal organization.
