Further contributing to his life of crime, he was repeatedly involved in robberies, a vehicle theft, and even a stabbing spree, ultimately landing him a seven-year prison term at San Quentin. His experience was marked by a rough upbringing and a resilient adaptability to the harsh prison environment, where he fell into gang life, transitioned from Norteño to Nuestra Raza, and began performing dangerous, criminal tasks. Mendoza recounted his periods on probation, potential personal growth, his interactions with fellow convicts, and the role each played in shaping his past criminal lifestyle and present identity.
