Previously, Irv Gotti appeared on ‘Drink Champs’ and said that Damon Dash was only “along for the ride” with Jay-Z during his time at Roc-A-Fella Records. The comments from Gotti created much discourse in the music industry, and now Dash has finally reacted to Irv’s comments.
While on ’The CEO Show,’ Dash reacted to comments from Gotti, noting they were affecting him at all. Dame spoke about being hit up by news outlets after Gotti’s comment, noting it was a program to get him to react to another Black man saying something that wasn’t positive.
Dash said, “Irv is my brother, so sometimes I worry about his mental health.” He and host then provided context about Irv and Dash’s relationship. Dash went on to say, “What I see him doing is celebrating, taking his artists’ masters and selling them and saying, ‘Y’know, this is how I make my money,’ and that’s the furthest thing that I would ever do with any one of my artists.”
Dash then revealed he told Irv not to embrace a “gangster lifestyle” and that Jay-Z giving Irv the “Gotti” name was a joke, one that seemingly went too far. Watch above.
