During a segment on their sports talk show ‘It Is What It Is,’ Cam’Ron took time to ask Mase questions about his career, noting that Mase typically doesn’t do interviews unless they are paid.

One question found Mase revealing his true intentions surrounding taking his friend and, at the time, rising rapper Cam’Ron to meet with The Notorious B.I.G., as opposed to Puff Daddy and Bad Boy Records, who Mase was then signed to.

Cam asked, “When you had your record deal, why did you take me to Biggie Smalls and not Bad Boy?” Mase replied, “It’s almost gonna bring me to tears to say this. Being that I saw you as such a good friend, I wanted to put you with somebody I knew [would do right by you].” Cam thanked Mase, and then Mase continued saying, “Instantly, I knew Biggie would do right by you.” Watch above.
