Emo has come and gone, but remnants of the genre and culture once driven by bands like Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco remain. For example, we now have SoundCloud rap, crossover artists like Machine Gun Kelly, and the classic "emo" photo of Blueface before he became a star.

On Monday, during Media Day for the Miami Heat, the team's best player, Jimmy Butler, playfully paid homage and took members of the paparazzi on a trip down memory lane--all the way to the early 2000s, when he showed up to the press conference donning a new "emo" hairstyle. With his permed hair draped over his face, numerous lip rings, and black nail polish, the only things missing were a pair of vans, skinny jeans, and arm sleeve tattoos.

When the press conference started, Jimmy jokingly said, "Leave me alone; I'm emo."

Apparently, losing out on the Damian Lillard sweepstakes has had a bigger effect on "Jimmy Buckets" than we thought. Scroll up and press play to hear the 6-time All-Star talk about his new look and more.
