Part 1: Lavar Ball on Growing Up in South Central LA Around Crips & Bloods, Never Joining a Gang
--------
In this clip, Lavar Ball compared his son Lonzo to Magic Johnson but with better shooting skills, making everyone else on the team better. He reflected on an unsuccessful game for UCLA, where Lonzo had suffered a hamstring injury. Lavar navigated through a tough period during this time when his wife had a stroke, which greatly affected Lonzo. Simultaneously, Lavar defended his controversial statement made after studying the loss of UCLA in Kentucky, stating they couldn't win with three white guys due to their slower speed, and responded to claims of racism. He pointed out that the NBA, too, is dominated by Black players and the historical segregation in colleges. Lavar said he would happily accept to be proven wrong about his theory on winning games but said it was not a big deal.
