Update 10/04/2023 11:40am:

YNW Melly was hit with witness tampering charges in court on Wednesday (October 4), just days before his double murder trial is set to begin. This comes just one day after Melly's co-defendant, Cortlen "Bortlen" Henry, who was out on bond pending his trial, was arrested on the same charges in Miami.

Details surrounding the charges have yet to be made public, but Melly's attorneys responded to the charges in a statement to the Miami Herald.

"This is a transparent and desperate attempt by the State Attorney’s office to distract the public for the deposition of an Assistant State Attorney who accused this case’s lead detective and lead prosecutor of felonies by falsifying and covering up evidence damaging to the state’s case."
