The investigation targeted the gang's leadership, aiming to mitigate its influence by distributing leaders across nationwide federal prisons. However, the strategy backfired, providing a platform for extending their recruitment network beyond California borders. The convict also shared insights about the gang's hierarchical structure, revealing himself as a "category two" member - well-versed in the group’s constitution and instrumental in commanding street regiments. The federal crackdown led to the indictment of 22 gang members, primarily targeting top-tier leadership. Mendoza criticized the investigation for only scratching the surface of the deep-rooted crime network.
