On October 7th at 6:30 a.m., Hamas (a Palestinian Military Group currently occupying the Gaza Strip) launched a surprise attack on Israel, firing nearly 2,000 rockets into Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Subsequently, Hamas infiltrated the Israeli territory, killing over 700 citizens while kidnapping dozens. In response, Israel has declared war on Hamas and has since killed over 400 Palestinians in retaliation. The war in Israel has ignited several protests stateside, along with commentary from celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and former porn star Mia Khalifa.
After voicing her support of Israel via IG stories, Kylie Jenner deleted content when it was met with backlash. In contrast, Mia Khalifa's support of Hamas was far more blatant and unapologetic.
"Can someone please tell the freedom fighters in Palestine to flip their phones and film horizontal," Mia Khalifa tweeted. "I just wanna make sure there’s 4k footage of my people breaking down the walls of the open air prison they’ve been forced out of their homes and into so we have good options for the history books."
Mia Khalifa's commentary on Israel's war against Hamas was met with criticism. But, instead of retracting her statement, like Kylie Jenner, Mia Khalifa doubled down by detailing why she has chosen a side in the conflict.
