Jada Pinkett Smith is revealing more about her recently revealed separation from her husband, Will Smith, which she told Hoda Kotb has been established since 2016.
In a separate interview with PEOPLE, Jada revealed that she hasn't spoken with Chris Rock since the infamous 2022 Oscars slap. She admitted that there were misunderstandings about jokes Chris made in 2016 while hosting the awards show, which she thinks carried over to the 2022 show.
Later, Jada revealed that Chris once asked her out amid rumors that she and Will were divorcing. Jada explained, "I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce. And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce.
"So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I'd love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren't you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that."
