The bodycam footage of a Kentucky man confessing to brutally murdering his girlfriend after a heated argument has been released. Tommy Powell admitted to killing Amberly Harris in December 2022, shortly after taking out a $20,000 life insurance policy on her. The footage shows a distressed Powell telling police, "She was trashing my sh*t. I lost control."

The incident took place in Independence, Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati. Police responded to a wellness call from Harris's employer, who reported that she hadn't been seen in days. When officers arrived at Powell's residence, he immediately confessed to the crime. The body camera recordings from the first responders show the officers attempting to locate Harris's body. They eventually find her lying on the floor of a bedroom.

As backup is called, the officers secure the rest of the apartment. They discover a gun in one of the rooms and detain Powell. He continues to express his remorse and admits to living with Harris's dead body for several days before the police arrived.

Powell tells police that the argument began over Harris "trashing" his belongings, causing him to lose control. He confesses to shooting her with a 20-gauge shotgun.

The footage also shows Powell being taken into custody and transported to the police station. He is interviewed by detectives who obtain consent to search his home. Powell becomes sick during the interview and vomits into a trash can.
