At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, a woman armed with a knife was tackled and apprehended after stabbing three individuals, including a police officer, in the south terminal on Wednesday afternoon. The incident was reported around 4:45 pm when the woman stabbed a man near the west crossover outside the security checkpoint before moving into the south terminal area. Atlanta Police officers engaged with her, attempting to persuade her to drop the knife.
During the encounter, she attacked another woman and an APD lieutenant, injuring them with the knife. All three victims, including the officer with an artery injury, were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. The armed woman was subdued by another officer and taken into custody.
There seems to be no apparent connection between the assailant and the victims, and investigators are still probing the motive behind the attacks. Charges will be filed once the investigation is complete. The woman is described as transient and known to frequent the airport.
