A female rapper known as Key Vhani, whose real name is Kevhani Camilla Hicks, was arrested on a second-degree murder charge after allegedly fatally shooting a man in Wynwood. The incident occurred following a verbal dispute between Hicks and her manager, which escalated into a physical altercation. According to police reports, Hicks claimed self-defense, stating she felt threatened by the victim's size and aggressive behavior. Surveillance footage showed Hicks being attacked by two men, leading her to grab her gun from her purse.
As she walked away, the victim allegedly threatened her, causing Hicks to open fire. The victim, who was walking away from Hicks, was shot, collapsing in the roadway. Hicks was also struck by a fleeing Lexus during the incident. Despite Hicks asserting self-defense, a judge denied bond, stating there was probable cause for second-degree murder.
The driver of the Lexus is still being sought by the police to provide his account of the events.
