In this VladTV exclusive, music executive Lyor Cohen, who currently heads YouTube Music and is the former CEO of Warner Music and president of Def Jam, shares his journey in the entertainment industry. Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles by Israeli parents, Cohen describes his early career in banking as miserable, leading him to organize concerts. His first big hit was a Run-D.M.C concert, followed by a less successful Houdini concert, which was a critical turning point in his career. Moving to New York, Cohen joined Russell Simmons' management company, Rush, just as Def Jam was starting. He served as road manager for acts like Run DMC and Beastie Boys. Moving along, Cohen detailed the many highlights of his career, which included running Def Jam, leading Warner Music, starting 300 Entertainment, and joining YouTube.
