In 1996, New Edition reunited for their album "Home Again," the first in eight years, and featured all six original members, including Bobby Brown. Johnny Gill mentioned that this reunion was intentionally planned. Gill emphasized the strong bond of brotherhood within the group despite competing egos. The album was a hit, debuting at number one and going double platinum, appearing to be their best-selling album after "Heartbreak." Gill admitted he still preferred the "Heartbreak" album from an artistic standpoint. During their reunion tour, however, difficulties arose, including a fistfight and gunfire at one of the concerts. Gill attributed these mishaps to an assortment of people surrounding the group with different loyalties, creating tension among them. Despite these incidents, the prominence of their bond and brotherhood within the group remained.
