Jada Pinkett Smith has been making the rounds to promote her new book, Worthy, and she made headlines after telling Hoda Kotb that she and Will have been separated for the past seven years.

Now, Will Smith has responded in a somewhat vague manner via a statement to the New York Times. Without delving too deep, Will admitted that Jada's memoir "kind of woke him up" and that he has now realized she is more "resilient, clever and compassionate than he'd understood."

Will added, "When you’ve been with someone for more than half of your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in, and you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties."
