Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. has rejected a plea deal in his assault case, where he was previously facing a felony second-degree assault charge. Evidence revealed that the fractured neck suffered by his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, was due to a congenital defect and not caused by Porter. Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer offered Porter a plea deal on his third-degree assault charge, which he turned down.

He currently faces up to seven years in prison if convicted on the remaining assault charge and a second-degree charge of strangulation. The Rockets have banned Porter from team activities since the charges were announced, and his future with the team remains uncertain. Porter's next court date is scheduled for Nov. 27.
