During his appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, Jeezy opened up about his battle with depression, revealing that he struggled with symptoms for eight years before realizing he had it. He admitted that he lacked knowledge and education about mental health but was thankful to have discovered it before it was too late.
In his new book, Adversity for Sale, he explores this journey, emphasizing the power of vulnerability. Jeezy explained how growing up amidst drugs, witnessing friends' struggles, and experiencing loss contributed to his trauma and depression. He shared how he used to wake up wanting to avoid reality, often relying on vices. Reflecting on his past, he acknowledged the impact of his experiences and thanked his children for helping him find his way back to emotional connection.
This wasn't the first time Jeezy spoke about his mental health struggles; he previously revealed contemplating suicide as a way to escape his challenges during his time in the National Guard's Youth Challenge program. He recalled the moment when he thought about jumping into the water but ultimately chose to confront his problems, motivating him to face life head-on upon his return home.
