Although BMF started in Detroit before relocating to Atlanta, the organization also has a long-standing history with businesses and individuals from Texas.

When Big Meech, the co-founder of BMF, was arrested in 2005, he was reportedly headed to a party for legendary Rap-A-Lot artist Bun B. According to Shawty Redd, BMF's eventual fallout with Rap-A-Lots Records all started with a dispute between him and his former music collaborator, Jeezy.

In a recently uploaded video, Shawty Redd alleged that Jeezy's associates assaulted him at Slim Thug's first album release party because he previously worked with Gucci Mane. However, due to Shawty Redd's association with J. Prince, the founder of Rap-A-Lot Records, the assault created a rift with BMF, whom Jeezy had close ties with.
