Lyor Cohen discussed how he left Warner Music in 2012 due to a need to change the music industry model. Despite his approach being widely ridiculed and seen as contrarian, he wanted to demonstrate how a small, purpose-driven entity could make a difference. Cohen's gamble paid off as his music entertainment company, 300 Entertainment, flourished. While it received minor funding from Google and distribution help from Atlantic, it was largely self-funded. Successful key signings included Fetty Wap and Young Thug, who significantly propelled the company. Cohen had a profound relationship with Young Thug, valuing his boldness and unique approach to music.
