Lavar Ball responded to criticism he had received from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who claimed Ball had a negative effect on the sport of basketball. Ball countered by suggesting Abdul-Jabbar pay closer attention to his own family. Furthermore, he dismissed accusations from Nancy Armour of USA Today, who labeled him the "worst sports parent ever." Ball retorted he cares for his kids and is proud that his son, LaMelo, was drafted number three by the Charlotte Hornets. Additionally, Ball discussed his admiration for sports figure Deion Sanders, asserting they share a similar mindset as fathers coaching their children. Ball appreciated Sanders for not making it about "a black or white college" but simply about college in general and trying to do what's best for his family. He argued in favor of supporting colleges rather than focusing on racial ratios.
