The family of a former California police chief is expressing their anger and disbelief at the behavior of the two suspects accused of killing their loved one. The trial date has been set for the two teenagers who are facing serious felony charges for their alleged involvement in a crime spree that included the intentional hit-and-run killing of retired police chief Andreas Probst.
During a court appearance, the suspects, 18-year-old Jesus Ayala and 16-year-old Jameer Keys, were seen giggling, conversing, and even flipping off the Probst family. This behavior has left the family livid and shocked, as they believe it shows a lack of remorse and a sense of entitlement.
Andreas Probst's daughter, Taylor, expressed her disbelief, saying that it feels like a game to the suspects. The incident occurred on August 14th when Probst was cycling in a bike lane and was intentionally hit by a car. The driver and Keys, who was the passenger, have been charged in connection to the crime.
The release of bodycam footage from the incident has also brought some controversy. The public defender for the suspects argued in court that he had seen the footage for the first time on a news channel, raising concerns about the fairness of the jury selection process due to media attention.
