In 2020, J. Cole released a track called “Snow on tha Bluff,” where he seemingly called out Noname, who openly expresses her views on political, race, and gender-related matters.
The call-out sparked a scathing response from Noname, who launched bars over a Madlib-produced track, “Song 33,” where she called out mainstream artists for not speaking out about police brutality in the current times.
Now, Noname has spoken about the situation, noting she and Cole have patched things up. During an interview with Complex, Noname said, “I wouldn’t say [J. Cole] was necessarily wrong. I think we both could have went about it in a better way… We both could have done better. I’m like, ‘Bro, I’m only on Twitter, I’m not even talking about you. It’s tweets, I thought you wasn’t on Twitter.'”
The rapper then said that she and Cole reconnected: “I had a block party this past summer and I was hitting him to see if he could pull up on some special guest s***, and he was really about it.” She continued, “He wasn’t able to because he’s a father with children, but he was down to donate.”
Noname then clarified that there is no issue with the North Carolina rapper. “We have prison chapters for our book club, so he was like, ‘I’m definitely down to support.’ He’s really sweet. We do not have beef, we love Cole over here,” said Noname.
