J. Cole's generosity knows no bounds when it comes to collaborating with your favorite artists. During his appearance on Lil Yachty and Mitch's A Safe Place podcast last Thursday, the Dreamville Records co-founder spilled the beans on his approach. Cole revealed that he staunchly refuses to charge fellow artists for his collaborations.

"Listen, it's just a verse, man," Cole started. "Sure, my verses are tight, but that's just my style. I'm not about to demand thousands of dollars for a few words. I don't even ask for payment for the verse. I do this because I'm genuinely inspired to create."

He went on, "I don't charge artists because I want to be a part of their song. That's not my vibe." At 38 years old, Cole has lent his talents to numerous features this year alone, teaming up with the likes of Gucci Mane ("There I Go"), Lil Durk ("All My Life"), J-Hope ("On the Street"), and Drake ("First Person Shooter"). Speaking of the latter track, Cole confessed that he would have preferred his first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, also his inaugural No. 1 hit, to not have included assistance from Drake.
