Reports surfaced noting that three passengers sued Alaska Airlines, claiming they suffered emotional distress following an incident that went down on a plane last month. The incident found an off-duty pilot allegedly trying to shut down the plane's engine while catching a ride from Washington to San Francisco. Alaska Airlines has not yet commented on the lawsuit.

On October 22nd, Joseph Emerson, who was riding in the jump seat of the plane, suddenly attempted to shut down the engines. Fortunately, the flight attendants were able to contain him before any significant damage was done.

One of the passengers involved in the lawsuit has expressed that he thought he was going to die during the terrifying incident. This is not the first time such incidents have occurred, as there have been cases of pilots causing harm or death to hundreds of people in the past. The passenger believes that this pattern needs to be stopped and believes this lawsuit will contribute to creating a safer environment for all.

Emerson, the off-duty pilot, claimed that he had taken psychedelic mushrooms and hadn't slept in 48 hours before the flight. He also mentioned being upset over the death of a friend. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted destruction of an aircraft.
