After weeks of uncertainty, there is good news for the many drivers who pass through the busy stretch of the Ten Freeway in Southern California. Vice President Kamala Harris announced this morning that the freeway will be reopened tonight, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday getaway. This is a massive relief for the estimated 300,000 drivers who use this freeway regularly.

The closure of this section of the 10 Freeway was initially expected to last for months, but thanks to the hard work of dedicated crews, it will be reopened in just a week. Temporary fixtures have been put in place to ensure the safety of drivers, while permanent fixtures will be installed over the course of the coming weeks or months.

Although the freeway will be fully operational, there may still be some nightly closures as crews continue to work on the permanent fixtures. The Alameda exit and some surface streets near the 14th Street overpass will remain closed for now.

The cost of repairing this stretch of the freeway has yet to be finalized, but US Senator Alex Padilla estimates it will be around $3 million. However, he assured the public that federal funds would cover the expenses.

In addition to the reopening of the freeway, there is also some progress in the investigation of the fire that led to the closure. Authorities have released images of a person of interest and are asking the public for help identifying him. This individual is believed to be connected to the arson investigation.
