Chocolate, managed by Knight, produced lyric sheets as proof and claimed credit on earlier records. This led to a $400,000 advance being given to Chocolate to secure a publishing deal, much of which went to Knight. Despite the history, Vanilla Ice refused to comment on Knight's recent prison sentence, suggesting that the truth was more complex than public narratives suggest.
