In a recent interview, Royce Reed, the mother of NBA star Dwight Howard’s son, shared about her life as a single mom and the struggles of securing necessary financial aid from Howard. Dwight was not present during their son's birth and refused to sign the birth certificate, according to Reed. Despite Howard’s reported $350 million career earnings, Reed indicated she initially received $2,500 in child support, which eventually increased to $13,000 per month against her attorneys’ recommendation to push for $30,000. Furthermore, Reed shared instances where Howard allegedly offered financial support in forms such as refinancing her townhome and purchasing her a car and house, all in his name. Reed admitted she was naïve in accepting less financial support, not wanting to seem focused on money, and was more concerned about having Howard involved in their son’s life.
