Update 11/29/2023 3:43pm:

Law enforcement sources revealed to TMZ that the teen at the center of the investigation to determine whether Oklahoma City Thunder player Josh Giddey had an inappropriate relationship with a minor isn't cooperating. They added that her family also isn't cooperating.

The outlet reports that although officials are actively seeking more information and evidence to get to the facts of the case, this appears to create a roadblock. The Newport Beach Police Department confirmed that the case is still active, but it's unclear how things will proceed without cooperation.

Josh has continued to play amid the controversy and declined to speak publicly about the allegations. Thunder coach Mark Daigneault was also asked to weigh in, stating that he is declining to "comment on anything as it relates to [Giddey] off the court."

Josh Giddey, the point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is reportedly under police investigation following accusations on social media of an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl. Law enforcement sources revealed that Newport Beach, California police have initiated an inquiry to determine the validity of the claims and assess if any laws were violated. While the age of consent in Oklahoma is 16, the age of the girl involved remains unknown.

The NBA has announced its own investigation into the matter. Giddey is also at risk of losing a $40 million sponsorship deal with Weet-Bix, and sports figures like Dez Bryant have criticized journalists for their coverage.

In response to the allegations, Oklahoma's head coach, Mark Daigneault, refrained from commenting on Giddey's off-court matters. ESPN journalist Malika Andrews faced criticism for the handling of the news, while Stephen A. Smith emphasized the need for caution in commenting on a serious matter under investigation.
