Rahjon Cox, widely recognized as "Tsu Surf," a 32-year-old affiliated with the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang, has been handed a 60-month prison sentence.
The sentencing announcement comes from U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, subsequent to Cox's admission of guilt in a case involving charges of racketeering conspiracy and illegal possession of firearms.
In Newark federal court today, U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton, overseeing the case, pronounced the sentence. Cox, a resident of Newark, had previously confessed to two charges in a superseding indictment, acknowledging his participation in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy and his possession of firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. The court proceedings, including documents and statements, shed light on Cox's criminal involvement.
From 2015 to September 22, 2022, he played an active role in the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, a criminal enterprise operating in New Jersey involved in violent activities and the distribution of controlled substances both locally and beyond.
Cox held a leadership position within the gang and was directly implicated in violent incidents, including a 2017 shooting at a rival gang member.
Moreover, in 2019, he was discovered in possession of two loaded firearms in Essex County, despite being a convicted felon. In addition to the five-year prison term, Judge Wigenton has mandated a three-year supervised release for Cox and imposed a fine of $15,000.
