A Red Oak, Texas man, Virgil Bryant III, will face a lifetime driving ban due to multiple DWI convictions. Arrested on July 15, 2022, for erratic driving and endangering another motorist on Highway 287, Bryant was found with a cold six-pack in his vehicle, with two cans missing. His blood alcohol concentration measured 0.245, over three times the legal limit. This marked Bryant's seventh DWI arrest in the past 14 years. Previously sentenced to 40 years for his sixth DWI in 2009, he was released on parole in 2019. With his felony history, the punishment range increased to 25 years to life in prison, as a jury determined he had wielded his car as a deadly weapon.
