Update 12/07/2023 8:06am:

Kim Kardashian has reportedly not apologized to Taylor Swift for the 2016 phone call incident involving Kanye West, according to sources. The call, released by Kim and Kanye, was an attempt to show Taylor's approval of Kanye's controversial lyric in the song "Famous." Despite Taylor expressing outrage over the lyric, Kim released the call to prove otherwise. However, the full unedited version of the conversation revealed that Kanye had not disclosed using the term "bitch."

Taylor reportedly would accept an apology from Kim if it were done publicly. Although Kim feels the call vindicated her and Kanye, Taylor believes she was wronged, especially regarding the use of the word "bitch." The two women currently have no relationship.

Taylor Swift was named TIME's Person of the Year, and for her interview, she called out Kim Kardashian for one of the lowest points in her career.

Taylor recalled Kim allegedly leaking a phone call between her and Kanye in 2016 while they discussed Kanye's song "Famous." At the time, Kim shared the conversation online, which appeared to show Taylor approving Kanye's line, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b**** famous."

An extended version of the conversation shows that Kanye asked Taylor about the line, "To all my Southside n****s that know me best/I feel like Taylor Swift might owe me sex," which never made it in the song. During their conversation, Taylor agreed that the line wasn't "mean," and she clarified to Kanye that if he was going to use the line about making her "famous," he should tell the whole story.

Taylor revised the controversy in her latest interview, telling TIME, "You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I've never been before."

She added, "I moved to a foreign country. I didn't leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn't trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard. Make no mistake—my career was taken away from me."
