In a recent interview with Math Hoffa's "My Expert Opinion," radio personality Angela Yee addressed rumors about her departure from The Breakfast Club and clarified the reasons behind her decision.
Yee went on to explain that her decision to leave The Breakfast Club was not due to any issues with her co-hosts, but rather because she wanted to branch out and have her own show. Yee emphasized that she was excited about the opportunity to have her own nationally syndicated show in 44 markets and being able to get up later, stating that it was a huge positive change in her quality of life.
Reflecting on her 12 years on The Breakfast Club, Yee highlighted some of her best moments, including being inducted into the radio hall of fame and being listed as one of the top personalities. She also mentioned some challenges, like the controversial Birdman interview, where she felt more confused than scared. Yee further discussed how being on a show with multiple hosts often meant that if one person said something controversial, it would reflect on the entire group, even if not everyone agreed.
Despite the challenges, Yee expressed gratitude for the opportunities that came her way, including getting on Revolt and syndication and seeing the show grow over the years. She emphasized that, as the show's name was attached to her own, she felt a greater sense of responsibility and was now able to have more control over what she says and does on her own show.
Yee acknowledged that there have been instances where she has disagreed with certain statements made on the show, but due to the collective nature of the program, her individual viewpoint may not always be obvious to viewers. Nevertheless, she emphasized the importance of individuality and differing opinions in creating interesting discussions on air. You can hear more above.
