Pete Rose talked about winning the World Series championship in 1975 --- the first for his team since 1940. In what Rose considers the greatest World Series ever, most of the games were determined by one run. Rose, who was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, felt particularly special about winning the MVP for the series. He credits his success to understanding the game better and the hard work he put into it. He also reminisces about sweeping the Yankees four in a row the following year and staying undefeated in the postseason, which he notes rarely happens. Despite the many accolades he received, including the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year and the Hitchcock Belt as the top professional athlete of the year, Rose insists the awards did not change his life or how he approached the game.
