Lawyers for Keefe D filed a motion and claimed that statements made by their client about 2Pac’s murder were for “entertainment purposes” only.

The motion filed said Duane “Keefe D” Davis should be released on his own recognizance before the trial. If that isn’t possible, the lawyers asked that the court set a “reasonable bail” that isn’t more than $100,000. The motion also said an “astounding amount of hearsay and speculative testimony” was shown during Keefe D’s grand jury proceedings.

The lawyers say the state relied on Davis’ book ‘Compton Street Legend’ and also referenced YouTube interviews he was a part of. “The book and interviews were done for entertainment purposes and to make money from a situation that [LAPD officers] and others had already profited,” said the lawyers.

A part of the motion said, “Duane should not be denied bail in this case. It cannot be said that the proof is evident and the presumption great that Duane is guilty of first-degree murder for the death of Shakur.” From there, the motion asked that Keefe D be placed on house arrest with an electronic monitor ahead of his trial
