Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano shed light on his life behind bars. Sentenced to 18 years, Gravano feared a hit from the Mafia. To survive, he built relationships with diverse prison factions, such as the Aryan Brotherhood and the Mexican La Familia. Gravano says he maintained these relationships not out of need but due to his congenial nature. His connections helped him warn an inmate from the Mexican Mafia of an imminent attack. Gravano was sentenced at 57 and released at 72. Despite his advanced age, Gravano held his own in potential physical confrontations, telling every inmate, "If you overdo it... you better kill me because I will kill you.” He further asserted that he built such a reputation that other inmates usually intervened when he got into arguments.
