Ty Dolla $ign has expanded his tattoo collection in anticipation of the release of his collaborative album, Vultures, with Kanye West. The Los Angeles-born singer shared a close-up image of the "¥$" tattoo above his right ear and below his hairline on Instagram. The post featured the title track of the album, which includes contributions from Bump J and Lil Durk.
The symbol combination, "¥$," has gained recognition among fans of both Ty Dolla $ign and Kanye West, as the duo is expected to release the Vultures album under this moniker. Originally scheduled for mid-October, the album faced delays, moving its release to December 15 and later to December 31 after a series of listening parties. However, a spokesperson for Kanye confirmed to Billboard in the weeks leading up to New Year's Eve that the album would be postponed further to early 2024, specifically January 12.
The journey to Vultures has been marked by controversy, not only due to the repeated delays but also because of Kanye West's provocative lyrics on the title track. Addressing accusations of anti-Semitism, Kanye's lyrics included the line, "How am I antisemitic? I just f*ed a Jewish b**." This reference drew attention amid the backlash Kanye faced over previous anti-Semitic remarks, including comments about the "Jewish underground media mafia" and admiration for Adolf Hitler. During a promotional event for Vultures, Kanye made further controversial statements, claiming Zionists were running schools and hospitals.
In response to the criticism, Kanye issued an apology in a December 26 Instagram post written in Hebrew. He expressed regret, stating, "I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any unintended outburst caused by my words or actions. It was not my intention to hurt or disrespect, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused." Kanye emphasized his commitment to self-improvement, learning from the experience, and promoting unity, seeking forgiveness from the Jewish community.
