On Tuesday, three suspects were apprehended by the police in downtown Los Angeles after they were found in the process of stripping a stolen Maserati.

The incident unfolded as undercover officers were trailing a stolen Ford pickup truck from Bell Gardens. The pursuit led them to a homeless encampment near Olive Street, just south of the 10 Freeway. Upon arrival, officers uncovered the stolen Maserati concealed under a tent, its four wheels removed. The vehicle was elevated onto the sidewalk using an auto lift, and the tent was being utilized as a makeshift strip shop. The Maserati had been reported stolen from an area near Crypto.com Arena and L.A. Live on December 11.

At the scene, three men were arrested on multiple charges, all with prior arrests related to car burglary and grand theft auto. Two of the suspects were under probation at the time of their apprehension. During the arrests, police discovered tools employed for vehicle stripping, car parts, and recyclables inside the stolen Ford pickup. The pickup truck was subsequently returned to its rightful owner, while the impounded Maserati was held as evidence.

The LAPD’s Central Division Gang Impact Team stated, “The task force operation has been in operation for the last three months and will continue as it has proven to be a successful operation.”
