In an interview between Vlad and DL Hughley, they discussed the second season of Def Comedy Jam, a popular comedy show. They specifically talked about a situation where Carlos, a Latino comedian, was told that despite his successful routine, the show couldn't feature him at that time because every black comedian wanted to be on stage. Carlos felt discriminated against because of his race and used a racial slur to express his feelings, adding that he felt treated the same way the N-word often implies. Hughley, agreeing with Carlos, shared his similar experiences in the past, insisting that he understands Carlos' intent and is not offended. He added that freedom of speech often includes language that might not be favorable to all. The conversation then shifted to their non-offense for certain slurs based on the intent, citing Gary Owen as an example.
