A disturbing video has emerged showing a black Amazon delivery driver in Texas being brutally assaulted by two white women inside a luxury building. JaMaiya Miller, 25, was attacked while delivering a package at the Belle Mead at River Oaks apartment complex near Houston on Dec. 16.
Miller, who was buzzed into the complex by a resident, faced hostility when the same resident who allowed her in later claimed she was not supposed to be there. Another woman appeared, and both allegedly assaulted Miller. In a TikTok video posted by the Amazon worker, racial slurs were hurled at her, and one woman accused her of theft while physically assaulting her.
A doorman eventually intervened, allowing Miller to break free and call 911. Houston police are investigating the incident. In the video, Miller described the racist behavior and physical assault she endured. The building management stated that the actions of the individuals involved did not reflect the values of the complex and emphasized their commitment to creating a hospitable environment.
The incident unfolded due to a misunderstanding, with a resident mistakenly allowing the Amazon delivery driver into a restricted-access elevator and a resident hallway within the building, according to the building management. The police's Major Assaults Division is conducting interviews, and the material will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
Amazon expressed concern over the incident, stating that they are supporting the delivery partner and cooperating with law enforcement. Miller, who showed restraint during the attack, expressed relief that her actions made it clear who the attacker was. She has taken time off work due to the disruptive and distressing nature of the encounter.
