Recently, Pete Rock took to social media to comment on the current state of hip-hop, calling out the push to chase money instead of creativity and originality.
The storied producer and DJ posted a clip of Erick Sermon speaking about hip-hop. “They should change the music to WTF 🤦🏾♂️ tryna create a narrative that aint working.,” said Pete Rock.
He continued saying the art form is “stuck in one place,” then saying: “We created real history! idk what da hell they creating today but it damn sure ain't history or hip hop thats a fact.”
At one point in his address of the video, Pete said, “The bag as they say has become the problem and the focus point in the culture. Makes it corny when y'all make it about money smh 🌽.” Take a look above.
