When it comes to homelessness, it seems that New York City is doing better than Los Angeles, according to the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams. During a news conference, Adams held up an image of Skid Row in Los Angeles, emphasizing the stark contrast between the two cities.

New York Mayor Eric Adams used Los Angeles as an example of the progress he claims to have made in cleaning up his city's encampments. He highlighted the dire conditions of Skid Row, with fires burning on the streets and children living in these squalid conditions. Adams emphasized that New York has no visible problems like Los Angeles.

The statistics speak for themselves. Los Angeles has more than 46,000 homeless individuals, with over 32,000 of them being unsheltered. In contrast, New York has nearly the same number of homeless people, but only around 4,000 are unsheltered. This significant difference in the visibility of homelessness between the two cities suggests that New York is doing something right.

Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles recently announced that she was able to get over 21,000 people off the streets since December 2022, spending millions of dollars in the process.
