According to reports, ASAP Rocky has appeared in court to face two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon. The rapper reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Rocky entered the plea this past Monday while in a Los Angeles court, and this comes after a judge ruled in November 2023 that there was enough evidence to bring a trial into motion related to the alleged shooting of ASAP Relli in 2021. Relli claims that Rocky opened fire on him and that one of the bullets fired grazed his hand.
The rapper’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, says the claim Relli made is “a plain and blatant classic attempt at extortion.”
Tacopina spoke in detail, saying, “Rocky didn’t shoot him by any stretch.” Along with that, the lawyer continued saying, “[Relli] is a failed associate — ex-associate — of Rocky’s, and he’s jealous. He was trying to get money from Rocky. He wanted Rocky to support him. He made it clear. There were repeated attempts where he tried to ask for money in lieu of not causing problems for Rocky. That’s what he said. We have all this memorialized in text messages and otherwise, so it’s an extortion.” Rocky's next hearing is scheduled for March 6, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
