In a shocking revelation, it has come to light that 215 bodies were buried in unmarked graves behind a state jail in Jackson, Mississippi. This distressing discovery has left families of the deceased in despair and has sparked nationwide outrage. The lack of transparency and inhumane treatment of the bodies have prompted civil rights activists, including Attorney Ben Crump, to call for a thorough investigation into this unsettling situation.

This disturbing issue came to the forefront following the case of Dexter Wade, who was tragically hit by a police officer and subsequently buried without his family's knowledge. Despite the presence of identification on his person, the medical examiner handed it over to the lead detective, who failed to follow up or reach out to the bereaved family.

Activist Arthur "Silky Slim" Reed, who collaborates with Ben Crump, describes this situation as profoundly disheartening and an accurate reflection of the underlying issues in Mississippi. Disturbingly, six other individuals have been buried in the same grave, known as a "paupers' grave." These burial sites are devoid of any formal identification, with bodies simply placed in body bags. The nauseating odor emanating from the decomposing bodies attracts scavenging buzzards, showcasing the utter disregard for the deceased and their grieving families.

The investigation underway has revealed that many families were never notified about the deaths or burials of their loved ones. It is deeply troubling that families still believed their relatives were missing while they were indeed dead and buried. This lack of communication from authorities in Jackson, Mississippi, has caused unimaginable pain and confusion among the families.

In response to these shocking revelations, civil rights activists, along with Ben Crump and attorney Dennis Sweet, are demanding a federal investigation into this grave injustice. They raise significant questions about Dexter Wade's death, the involved police officer, and the reason behind the family being kept in the dark about their loved one's fate. The violation of civil rights, such as burying individuals without permission and withholding crucial information, calls for urgent action and accountability.
